Day 3: The Thinkery and The Austin Aquarium
After two days of hiking and playing in the water, it was time for a more relaxing day. And what is more relaxing than herding children among other children. Off to the Thinkery and Austin Aquarium!
I was concerned with the traffic in Austin due to SXSW going on this whole time. We had been avoiding it because our first two excursions were near the edge of the city, but now we need to cross the city. No idea how we accomplished it, but we got across town.
First stop, The Thinkery!
The Thinkery was once the Austin Children's Museum. It went through a remodel and a repurposing. What a great space. We had to wait in line to get in. Spoiler Alert: Spring Break is their busiest time of the year. But we got there early and only had to wait 10 minutes to get inside. There are great features for all ages. A light room, wax printing, gear room and even a maker space. However, be prepared for the water room. Unwatched children are your enemy here as they can spray water everywhere. So maybe bring backup clothes if your day requires travel elsewhere. Really fun room though, kids get to play in the water.
After lunch, it was off to the Austin Aquarium. So when you pull into the parking lot, you will be a little hesitant. It's in this weird shopping center. But don't judge it, its a really cool little aquarium. you can feed the animals, including sharks. Yes, you too can stick your hand in a tank and feed sharks. Lots of great tanks. Take your time because they have some great little guys hiding in there.

All in all, it was a great trip. I would do it again in the future, maybe get a cabin in the woods or go back to the RV park. I think a summer trip would be in order as I want to take the kids to Barton Pool. Although its really cold, I think they would really enjoy it. Until next time!
